50 Years: Backwards or Forward?

50 years have passed since Dr. King's historic "I Have a Dream" speech that inspired Americans to commune at the table of brotherhood. Today, the segregation era seems like a distant memory. Still, Dr. King's mission remains incomplete. In his finals days Dr. King's shifted his focus from Civil Rights to Economic Justice. How far have we come economically? The unemployment rate for Blacks and Latinos is double that of whites. Why? Considering recent laws passed by the NC State Legislature how will disadvantaged groups prompt change? Does the current state of the education system enable students to break cycles of poverty? Has America gone 50 Years: Backwards or Forward?
